Officials: Wharton State Forest fire fully contained; 1,778 acres impacted

The wildfire at the Atco Dragway in the Wharton State Forest has been fully contained, according to the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.
Officials say that the fire was 100% contained as of 10 a.m. Wednesday. They say that so far 1,778 acres of land have been impacted but say that “the acreage is subject to change due to more accurate mapping in the coming days/weeks.”
Forest Fire Service staff is expected to remain at the scene to monitor the conditions.
Officials say that members of the public may still see some smoke for an extended period and should use caution when traveling around the area.
The fire was first reported Sunday afternoon. No buildings were damaged and no injuries were reported.
