Officials: South Amboy student had pellet gun, box cutter in backpack on school grounds

A letter from the principal to parents stated that the student was found with an "air compressed pellet gun," pocketknife and box cutter in their backpack.

A South Amboy Middle High School student has been taken into custody after being accused of having weapons on school grounds.
A letter from the principal to parents stated that the student was found with an "air compressed pellet gun," pocketknife and box cutter in their backpack.
“Student and faculty safety is our top priority and all reported threats to the safety of the building involve law enforcement and is addressed immediately,” the principal wrote.
The student was taken to South Amboy Police Headquarters. It was not known if the student would be facing any charges.
