One person and one firefighter were hurt in a house fire in Rahway Monday afternoon.
The fire was inside a home on West Scott Avenue around noon. Officials say it started in the basement and then spread to the upper floors.
Rahway Fire Chief Michael Roberts says that everyone inside the home made it out. He says that fighting the fire was not easy due to the age of the home.
"It was very difficult, a lot of void spaces for the fire to travel,” Roberts said.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
