Authorities in Somerset are searching for an 8-year-old Green Brook boy after his grandmother awoke to find him missing.
Everett Streko's grandmother is his legal guardian. She says he went missing Friday morning along with all of his belongings. The woman's daughter-in-law, who is the boy's biological mother and had been living in the home, was also gone.
Everett's friends say he had told them earlier in the week that he would be leaving on a trip with his mother.
The Somerset County Prosecutor's Office is now searching for the boy's parents, who they believe are responsible for the disappearance.
Prosecutors say the parents are violating a court order by allegedly taking the boy.
Michael and Amy Streko are wanted for child interference. Investigators say that Michael Streko moved all of his belongings out of his Neptune City home on Thursday. He is known to drive a 1997 blue and white Winnebago.
Amy Streko is known to drive a 2007 gray Ford Focus.
Anyone with information on the Strekos' whereabouts is urged to contact authorities.
