A fire sparked by a lightning bolt displaced eight Kearny families from their homes.
Police say it happened early Monday morning at an apartment complex on Passaic Avenue.
One person was treated for smoke inhalation. No other injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross is helping the 12 people who were displaced.
