Officials identify man fatally shot by police on the Garden State Parkway

The New Jersey Office of the Attorney General says Kevin Harlfinger, of Perth Amboy, led Cranford police on a chase in a stolen car.

Authorities have released the name of the man who was fatally shot by police on the Garden State Parkway on Dec. 28.

The New Jersey Office of the Attorney General says Kevin Harlfinger, of Perth Amboy, led Cranford police on a chase in a stolen car. Harlfinger crashed in Woodbridge and began shooting at officers, according to officials. The officers shot back.

One Cranford officer was hit in the shootout. He has since been released from the hospital and is expected to be OK.
