A fire destroyed a Tesla parked at a salvage yard in Hillsborough.

The fire happened Friday morning.

Bright orange flames and thick black smoke were seen coming off the vehicle as firefighters arrived at the scene.

“Given the location of the vehicle, the decision was made to allow the car to burn itself out, then cool any remaining battery packs with water,” officials wrote in a Facebook post.

It was not clear what sparked the fire. No injuries were reported.
