Two people inside a truck were killed Tuesday when it crashed into a creek in West Orange, authorities say.
The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. along Northfield Avenue. It was a single-vehicle crash according to West Orange officials.
Authorities believe the driver may have suffered from a medical episode just before the crash, causing that person to drive off the roadway.
The driver veered off Northfield Avenue and through three parking lots before the car dropped several feet into the river, which was virtually dry. Both the driver and passenger died on impact.
The truck is owned by a company out of Hackensack called Universal Electric Motor Services.
First responders worked virtually all day to eventually lift that truck back onto the roadway with the use of a crane. The road was closed during the effort.
The names of those in the truck have not yet been released.
