A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Tuesday for renovations for the Bergen County Performing Arts Center.
The ball is now rolling to restore what is considered to be one of the finest acoustic halls in the country. The renovations will improve the seats, lobby, bar and lighting system.
Singer Darlene Love was on hand for the ceremony.
“I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. But a lot of people think I’m from New Jersey because I think I’ve worked every place there is to work in New Jersey,” Love said. “I started right here at Bergen PAC when it was called John Harms.”
History continues to be made at Bergen PAC, like actress Rachel Zegler gracing the stage as Maria in a production of “West Side Story” in 2017. She would go on to star in Steven Spielberg's Oscar-nominated adaptation four years later.
Construction is set to wrap in the fall.
