A 15-year-old Asbury Park High School student was hurt after she apparently jumped out of a school window to avoid taking the PSATs.

Asbury Park school officials say the girl reported to homeroom Wednesday morning, but instead of going to her testing location, she went to the second-floor girls' bathroom and climbed out the window. She then fell to the ground.

Officials say nurses from the high school and neighboring Monmouth County Vocational School provided her aid until an ambulance arrived. The girl was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment and evaluation.

"It's unfortunate that one of our students took extreme measures to exit the building, which resulted in her being injured," Superintendent Dr. Lamont Repollet said in a statement. "Our priority is to have a safe learning environment where we take the safety and security of all of our students very seriously." 

The girl suffered a broken ankle but is expected to be OK.
