Emergency crews responded to reports of a three-alarm fire near Bergenline Avenue and 53rd Street in West New York. The fire began around 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
Witnesses told News 12 New Jersey that they heard a loud boom and saw flames coming from their apartment building, which sits on top of a first-floor business.
Officials have not yet provided information about the cause of the fire.
Fire officials say that three firefighters were hospitalized for broken bones. Multiple residents will be displaced.
