Officials with the New Jersey Department of Health have confirmed a 28th case of adenovirus at the Wanaque Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Haskell.
So far the outbreak is responsible for the deaths of 10 children. Health experts say that the strain is affecting medically fragile children.
A second outbreak of adenovirus of a different strain was reported at a facility in Voorhees. Officials say that the outbreaks are not related.
The state's Department of Health deployed infection control teams to several facilities in New Jersey to help with training.
