A Toms River man was accidentally struck and killed by a patrol vehicle in Lacey Township Sunday morning.
Authorities say Lacey Township Police Department Officer Andrew Slota struck Neil Vandeputt, 25, of Toms River, who was crossing against the traffic signal, at the intersection of Lacey Road and Deerhead Lake Drive at around 3 a.m.
Officer Slota, who is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, had been responding to a call at the time.
The investigation is ongoing.
