An off-duty police officer in Saddle Brook was injured over the weekend while trying to stop thieves from stealing his father's car.

The chief of police in Saddle Brook confirms his officer called 911 at 11:20 p.m. Saturday after seeing someone stealing a car from his neighbor's driveway. That neighbor just happened to be the officer's own father.
The car being targeted in the driveway was a 2011 grey Infinity-G37.

Police say that when the officer saw the thieves pulling the car out of the driveway in reverse, he ran outside to try and stop what was happening and was hit by the car before the Infiniti pulled away.

Police officials say the officer suffered a minor injury and is back on the job on Monday.

No one has been arrested and car has not been recovered.
