New efforts will go into effect today to prevent hospitals from overflowing across New York.
Last week, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a new executive order after the emergence of the omicron COVID-19 variant.
The order allows the state health department to limit nonessential procedures at hospitals facing limited capacity, which are defined as anything below 10% availability.
One hospital believed to be under 10% was White Plains Hospital in the Hudson Valley.
However, the hospital says in a statement, “We currently meet capacity requirements and will not need to cancel any surgeries."
