A nun with St. Rose of Lima Church in Newark is back to performing her service within the community after being robbed and beaten along 11th Street at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.
At the time, Sister Julia was walking to a bus stop to make her way to work at a nearby nursing home.
She tells News 12 New Jersey that she was pushed to the ground and punched twice and had her purse stolen.
Newark police would later arrest 25-year-old Raheem Green for assaulting and robbing the sister.
Newark police say Green is also charged for a sexual assault and attempted murder on another woman later that same morning.

The attack was very upsetting to Pastor Marco Hurtado-Olazo, who knows the nun very well from services at St. Rose of Lima. The pastor says he’s improving security.
“We’re going to install cameras I called the diocese. This is going to be a bunker we have no choice. This area was improving that’s the sad thing," said Pastor Marco Hurtado-Olazo
Newark police say the suspect is being charged with robbery, assault and attempted murder for both incidents.
