North Jersey Coast Line service has resumed Monday in both directions between Bay Head and Long Branch. Service was suspended in the morning following a motor vehicle strike near Allenhurst.
NJ Transit says there were no injuries to any of the 50 passengers and crew on board. They say the vehicle was unoccupied.
The woman who was driving the vehicle told News 12 New Jersey she was extremely tired. She says it was dark and she simply made a wrong turn. When she realized her mistake, she says she had just seconds to get out before the train came by.
NJ Transit rail tickets and passes were cross honored by NJ Transit bus and private carriers.
