While a lack of crowds entices some holiday customers, many shop owners along Main Avenue in Passaic say a shortage of shoppers is bad for business.
Many storeowners say this year has been the worst for holiday shopping. One owner says business is bad because of the malls and online shopping. Some storeowners are taking drastic measures to get their goods out the door.
City officials made parking free for residents on Monday to entice holiday shoppers. However, storeowners say the lots may be full but their shops are still empty.
