Even though fall hasn’t technically begun, the New Jersey Department of Transportation is kicking off its Winter Road-E-O to prepare for the coming season.
The Winter Road-E-O is a training and competition event among the NJDOT North Jersey crews. It is held every year at MetLife Stadium.
“This helps our new CDL drivers prepare for the winter season,” NJDOT’s Danielle Roman explained. “We’d rather them get used to it here than go on the road and hit things on the road.”
The competition includes an obstacle course for snowplows, which prepares new drivers with real-life experience. It also allows seasoned veterans to practice before the season begins.
Other timed events include putting a plow on a truck and changing a plow blade.
