Officials: NJ Transit train fatally strikes pedestrian in Union County

The Raritan Valley Line service is suspended in both directions between Cranford and Newark as the investigation into the accident continues, according to officials.

A pedestrian was hit and killed by a NJ Transit train on Sunday east of Roselle Park station near Galloping Hill, according to officials.
At 9:50 a.m., officials say Raritan Valley Line train 5515, which departed Newark Penn Station at 9:38 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Raritan at 10:42 a.m., fatally struck the pedestrian.
Officials say there were no injuries reported to the 40 customers or the crew on board.
The Raritan Valley Line service was suspended Sunday in both directions between Cranford and Newark and service has since resumed. Commuters may experience delays as the investigation into the accident continues.
