Gov. Mikie Sherrill and NJ Transit officials showcased the agency’s newest equipment Monday as the state transit system advances its fleet modernization plan.
The event was held at NJ Transit’s Meadows Maintenance Complex in Kearny, featuring the first of 374 new Multilevel III rail cars, along with a new 40-foot bus, a new Access Link vehicle, and a new NJ Transit Police mobile command center.
NJ Transit said the vehicles represent another step in its plan to fully modernize its rail and bus fleets by 2031.
Gov. Sherrill was joined by NJ Transit President and CEO Kris Kolluri, U.S. Rep. Nellie Pou, and U.S. Rep. Rob Menendez.
