A Little League team from Ocean County is set to play in the Little League World Series.
The Holbrook Little League is from Jackson. They are set to play against the team from Connecticut Thursday afternoon.
The team is New Jersey’s first to reach the World Series in five years. The team averaged 10.8 runs across four regional games, the best mark of any American team.
The 71st annual tournament will feature 16 teams – eight from the United States and eight from other parts of the world.
Holbrook Little League arrived in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania Sunday to prepare for the tournament. The team hasn’t lost a game since the district tournament last month.
They beat the team from Maryland in order to take the title of Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships.
