? As the deadline to sign up for a Medicare drug plan rapidly approaches, New Jersey?s senators are calling for the date to be extended to help clear up confusion.
Elizabeth senior Sallie Nicholes says she?s asked health professionals for help navigating the maze of drug plans, but that?s made little difference. Nicholes is among New Jersey?s 350,000 seniors who have until May 15 to pick a plan or face penalties.
Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-New Jersey) and Senator Robert Menendez (D-New Jersey) are asking President Bush to extend the deadline. Menendez says the government took several years to form the program, so it shouldn?t expect seniors to grasp the concept in a few months.
