(01/23/06) TRENTON ? The Senate Judiciary Committee approved Governor Jon Corzine?s (D-NJ) nomination of Zulima Farber for attorney general by a vote of 8-2 Monday.
The vote came after a day of questions directed at the attorney general nominee. A particularly tense portion of the questioning revolved around Faber?s past driving record. Republican Senator Gerald Cardinale grilled Farber about several speeding tickets and a bench warrant for her arrest.
Farber answered Cardinale?s inquiries by stating she has apologized for those errors and stands by her apology. She also told Cardinale she lives by the respect of the New Jersey court system. The nomination will now head to the Senate for a final vote. If approved, Farber will become New Jersey?s first Hispanic attorney general.
