The Westfield Public School District has agreed to pay $250,000 to the parents of a high school student who died by suicide in 2018.
The lawsuit was brought to the Superior Court in Union County in 2020. The student's parents claimed the district allowed their son to be repeatedly bullied, including being called racial slurs and sexually assaulted multiple times.
A stipulation of the settlement was no admission of liability by the school district.
The boy was 15 when he died.
