Road crews were busy readying for Sunday?s storm, predicted to be a mix of snow and ice and the first snow of the season for many parts of New Jersey.
Many municipalities are loading up their sand trucks and polishing their snow blades in anticipation of slick roads. About 25 sand trucks in Parsippany were fitted with 300 tons of salt Saturday in preparation.
?All of sudden if this storm changes course or anything like that we could end up with all ice and have a serious situation,? Parsippany Department of Public Works Director Greg Schneider says. ?So what we are doing preparing ourselves for the unexpected."
In Hanover, crews are trying to suck in as many leaves as possible because they can become an obstacle for plow drivers.
Northwestern New Jersey already had its first taste of snow last week with several inches blanketing the area.
