Six of New Jersey’s major food banks will be receiving $16,000 thanks to New Jersey taxpayers.
Some state residents checked a donation box on their income tax form, sending part of their rebate to those in need.
One of the six food banks to get a portion of the money is Fulfill in Neptune. They'll be handing out 10,000 turkeys this holiday season to families in Monmouth and Ocean counties.
“Having extra money for us to be able to supplement what we normally have, but may be running low on, is crucial for us to being able to provide nutritious healthy meals,” says Laura Chiappetta.
Officials at Fulfill say that every dollar donated equals three meals.
