A shooting massacre at Fort Hood in Texas is affecting those at a New Jersey Army base.
Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst released a statement saying it was "deeply saddened by the sudden and tragic losses suffered at Fort Hood."
And while it appears to be business as usual in and around Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Friday, there is an increased focus on security.
A colonel at the base says they are also prepared for to help soldiers cope with the stressful news out of Fort Hood.
Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan is accused in the shooting rampage that killed 13 people and wounded 30 more Thursday in Texas. He was also wounded and is under guard in a hospital.
A New Jersey man was among those wounded in the Fort Hood shootings. Bridgewater resident Alan Carroll was shot and injured.
