Questions are being raised in the wake of yesterday's JetBlue incident about what testing pilots undergo to ensure they're capable to fly.
Dr Daniel DaSilva, an aviation neuropsychologist, says he doesn't know Captain Clayton Osbon, but he's treated many others. DaSilva says his first thought when he heard about the situation was compassion.
DaSilva won't speculate on what caused the pilots erratic behavior, but says it could be just about anything, including a medication reaction or an acute medical condition.
The doctor says some airlines require a mental evaluation upon hiring, but it's not mandatory or continuous.
