News 12’s Eric Landskroner loaded up Thunderbolt 12 with toys for Children’s Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick.
The toys were donated as part of News 12’s annual “Hot Toys” segment.
“We have approximately 50 children in the hospital right now who we expect to be with us through the holiday season,” says Matthew McDonald, president and CEO of Children’s Specialized Hospital.
He says that this is the time of year when the kids need a little extra cheer.
“Seeing a child receive a toy – nothing like the smile on their face then when they see a toy,” he says.
Landskroner also met Dan and Ken Ryan who have been delivering toys to the Bristol Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital for the past 27 years.
“We’ve been dropping off toys in my brother’s honor, Dan Ryan, who passed away from cancer in ’95,” says Ken Ryan.
While he was being treated, Dan Ryan used money raised to help him to buy toys for other children in the hospital. It is a legacy that the Ryans hold dear.
