? Friends and family members are remembering a Newark woman who was killed in a hit-and-run accident in New York City Saturday.

Police say 21-year-old Jessica Martinez was trying to cross the West Side Highway when a driver ran into her and sped off. Martinez?s friend was with her at the time. Martinez is being remembered as an ambitious young woman who had hoped to work for the NYPD. Her funeral is planned for Tuesday in Newark.

A Brooklyn man is behind bars for allegedly hitting Martinez and leaving the scene.
