More affordable housing is coming to Newark.
The Somerset Brownstone buildings are for families earning less than 60% of the area's average income.
Fifteen homes have been set aside for formerly homeless families.
The $21 million units were built in partnership with the Michaels Foundation, which even provided college scholarships for some residents.
"Affordable is what we need. We actually need 6,000 more units of affordable housing in the city, so this helps us get there little by little by little, but this is what we need to be doing," says Mayor Ras J. Baraka.
The foundation is also providing supportive services through the organization Better Tomorrows.
