Central Ward Councilman Charlie Bell held a town hall meeting in Newark Thursday night to urge cooperation with police investigating recent gunfire incidents in the city.
The rally was held less than a block away from where a 30-year-old woman was shot in the leg two weeks ago. There are no suspects in that incident. A 14-year-old was killed by gunfire Monday and two other were wounded by stray gunfire.
Bell says the code of ?don?t snitch? is ingrained in the city?s youth and wants to break the cycle. He says the city is planning a summit on violence next month involving the police chief, code enforcement and residents.
