Some of Newark?s Dominican population and others held a vigil for a slain man Saturday.
Ramon Lopez, 30, who was also from the Dominican Republic, was killed Thursday in a liquor store robbery. People at the vigil said the murder highlights what?s wrong in Newark and how many people come here looking for a better life, only to find tragedy. Residents want Newark police to control the drugs and violence that plagues the city.
Lopez leaves behind five children. Many Newark community members say they will help raise them.
