Newark police: 1 killed, 1 hurt in late-night shooting

Detectives say officers responded to the 100 block of Dewey Street around 11 p.m. where they found 28-year-old Jaquill Swain suffering from a gunshot wound.

Newark police say one person was killed and another injured late Friday night during a shooting.

They say officers responded to the 100 block of Dewey Street around 11 p.m. where they found 28-year-old Jaquill Swain suffering from a gunshot wound.

He died at the scene soon after.

A second victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to recover.
