New details have been released about a deadly pedestrian crash in Newark over the weekend.
Newark Mayor Ras Baraka says the victim was a 17-year-old girl. Her identity has not been released.
The crash happened Sunday night around 9 p.m. at the intersection of Bloomfield and Mount Prospect avenues.
The driver involved in the crash has since turned himself in.
Baraka also addressed misinformation surrounding the incident, saying the crash was not caused by a police pursuit involving a stolen vehicle.
The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the crash.
Authorities have not released additional details about what led up to the collision.
