A 23-year-old Newark man was arrested in connection with the December stabbing of a man inside his Perth Amboy apartment, officials say.
Dewayne Williams was arrested in Newark Friday on murder and other charges in the Dec. 7 slaying of Jean Carlos Morel, 27, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew Carey.
The victim had sometimes allowed Williams to stay in his second-floor apartment on Smith Street, where the alleged murder took place, officials say.
The prosecutor's office was aided in the investigation by the Perth Amboy Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service, according to Carey.
A judge set Williams' bail at $750,000
The investigation is ongoing.
