Police apprehended a Newark couple Tuesday night in connection with the murder of a landlord.

Police say 35-year-old Fabio Borges was gunned down in his driveway on Longworth Street Saturday night after surrendering his wallet to a robber. Investigators believe the money in Borges? wallet came from 39-year-old Staci Marshall, who had just settled her rent with Borges. The Essex County prosecutor says in an attempt to get her money back, Marshall had her ex-con boyfriend, 28-year-old Keshawn McNeil, rob Borges. Investigators are unsure if murder was part of Marshall?s alleged plot to get her money back.

Marshall?s bail is set at $500,000. McNeil?s bail is set at $1 million.
