Prostitutes and their johns are facing a crackdown on the illegal activity in Newark.
Police say they have made 15 arrests near Frelinghuysen Ave. in the past two weeks and are using a new tactic to discourage prostitution. All offenders will now have their names posted on the Newark Police Department's Web site, according to police.
"We're going to post your name on our Web site so the whole world can know that you're soliciting prostitution," said Ron Salahuddin, the deputy mayor in charge of public safety.
Salahuddin says prostitution often leads to more serious offenses like robbery and murder. Officials say they want to let people know Newark is not a place to solicit sex.
"Things that people used to turn their head on will no longer be tolerated," said Salahuddin.
