Three separate, fatal shootings occurred in Newark Monday that have city leaders calling for more efforts to be done to stop the violence.
Monday afternoon shots were first fired at 440 Elizabeth Ave., outside Carmel Towers. More gunshots followed on South 12th Street hours later. Two men were then shot near 7:00 p.m. close to the corner of South Hawthorne and Cedar lanes.
Mayor Cory Booker states that more work must be done to prevent the violence that claimed the lives of three people Monday. He adds, however, that the city is successfully enforcing more police patrols and better technology.
