The Sunday after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel days of the year and it caused headaches for some travelers at Newark Liberty International Airport.
Delays and cancelations began on Saturday with over 12,000 delays nationwide and over 2,000 cancelations. Newark Airport has reported 278 delays with eight cancelations as of Sunday.
Traveler Zoe Kim flew from New Orleans Sunday morning and said it was a similar situation there.
"It was a little crazy, the lines were super long. I saw the Southwest checked bag line was like a mile long,” she said.
This Thanksgiving has seen an 8% increase in traveling over last year, reaching near pre-pandemic levels.
Getting to the airport early is always a good idea, especially since lines fill up quickly.
"Just arrive early. Just got to wait in line, kind of sucks but it happens,” said traveler Ruth Delong.
