New Jersey's new drug abuse awareness campaign was revealed today at a forum at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
The new slogan is "Addiction does not discriminate."
Several experts spoke about the opiate abuse epidemic, including a mother from Mantoloking whose son died two years ago from an overdose of prescription painkillers.
"If you are wondering, if you are concerned, you probably have a reason to be concerned," said Meg Dupont Parisi. "Once this wraps its legs around this --addiction wraps its legs around a child --- it doesn't let go."
The Governor's Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse also launched a new website that has information on preventing abuse, recognizing when a loved one is at risk and finding treatment.
