Kids at one Oceanport school have some new playground equipment, dedicated in the name of a former classmate who lost a short battle with cancer. Kortney Rose Gillette was a fun-loving 9-year-old girl, who, like any kid, loved to play. She was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor and lost her battle with cancer before her 10th birthday. Now, Gillette?s peers at Wolf Hill School will continue to remember their friend with new swings, in her favorite color, purple. Pediatric brain tumors are the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children 18 and under.
