New outdoor restrictions go into effect Monday.
Gov. Phil Murphy announced that outdoor gatherings will be lowered from 150 to 25.
The borough of Bergenfield was already abiding by the restrictions on Sunday.
Its tree-lighting ceremony, which would normally be filled, had only a handful of people, including a few town officials and photographers. Police also blocked the road.
This year, the event was held virtually to help keep people safe.
Other municipalities are also switching things up this year due to the coronavirus.
In West Orange, people can watch the tree lighting from their computer or drive by and see it in person
In Morristown, sitting on Santa's lap is no longer an option.. He sits behind a window downtown.
Also beginning this weekend is that all indoor sports practices and competitions have been paused for at least one month.
