A chain of crashes on the New Jersey Turnpike in Cranbury left one person dead and another seriously injured this weekend.

The crashes involved multiple vehicles, according to police. A woman driving a van hit the back of a pickup truck, police say.

Before the van could pull over to the shoulder, another car hit it, police say. Both drivers got out, and that's when another car hit the two drivers, police say.

A 38-year-old man died, and the other driver remains in serious condition.
