The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra is moving into a new home in Jersey City. It will be the first time that the symphony will have a permanent home since it started in 1922.
The new location is located in a building on Provost Street within the Jersey City Arts District. The space will be able to hold 550 people. It is expected to open in the 2026 spring season.
"It's rare to get a space that is multi-functional. It's going to be a theater and a music hall,” says music director Xian Zhang. “But my goal is for the audience to love the sound the orchestra plays when we do have smaller symphonic concerts here."
The symphony's upcoming season begins on Oct. 6.
The opening performance at New Jersey PAC is called “Voice of Nature” and will feature soprano Renee Fleming.
