People around New Jersey are preparing for a weekend winter storm as a parade of storms approaches the Garden State.
When it comes to salt brine, the owner of Meadowlands Hardware in East Rutherford says the larger stores have been selling to, so more people are coming to local hardware stores for supplies.
Owner Dominico Pisciotta says his shop has an endless supply of salt brine, as well as shovels and other items to combat the snow.
The first round of winter weather is expected Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning. News 12 Storm Watch Team meteorologists say that parts of the state could see up to 9 inches of snow.
Pisciotta says that his customers often ask him what kind of salt brine is the best to use.
“Roads you use rock salt. And if you value your property and the concrete and the steps, you'll use calcium chloride or magnesium chloride. The best of the two is calcium chloride,” he says.
Pisciotta also recommends 100% calcium chloride and not a mix. He also advises customers not to forget about their vehicles. He says to get a snow brush and deicer ready.
