A very large piece of New Jersey history is back home -- the Hoboken Manufacturers Railroad Number 700 has spent the last 45 years in Pennsylvania.
It's now in the care of the Tri-State Railway Historical Society.
The organization works to preserve New Jersey's rich railroad history.
"Our mechanics will be doing a full evaluation to see what needs to be updated and replaced if anything, then, we'll be doing an evaluation for paint prep,” says Richard King, president of the Tri-State Railway Society. “The locomotive will eventually be repainted into its Hoboken Manufacturers colors."
Restoration will happen in Boonton.
King says this may be the last locomotive preserved from the Hoboken Manufacturers Railroad.
