Dancers from the New Jersey Ballet Company are preparing for their final performances of the season.
The company will present several pieces during shows on Saturday and Sunday at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown.
One piece created by New York City ballet artist Lauren Lovette is titled “Not our Fate.” Lovette says she made the dance six years ago in responses to personal and political challenges.
Saturday's performance will also include a piece called “Purcell Suite”, which was choreographed by former New York City ballet artist Harrison Ball.
The upcoming performances will also mark the culmination of artistic director Maria Kowroski's first season at New Jersey Ballet.
“My goal has always been to bring a New York level performance for a third of the price. Not only to bring in an audience, but these dancers need that challenge,” she said.
The company says they look forward to their next season, which will feature more performances across New Jersey.
