Helmets to Hardhats” will help veterans get jobs in industries like construction. The program launched in Jersey City and officials hope that it will expand from there.
"We're talking about laborers, plumbers, electricians, carpenters…22 building trades in all. The program will fund all the fees you need to get into a construction trade unit,” says Hudson County Commissioner Bill O'Dea.
The program will first serve Hudson County veterans. It will then expand to Bergen, Essex and Union counties.
Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop’s Office is providing support to the application process in the city.
